The use of puppets implies a learning culture that's safe. Puppets can demonstrate at risk thinking processes (out loud) that lead to impulsive, self-destructive behaviors. Puppets foster open communication that can be shared meaningfully between participants. Using puppets in a prevention strategy often works more effectively than other means of communication.

Puppets provide

Symbolic 3rd party kids often identify with or correctly reject
Children's emotions are elicited
Decision-making autnomous but with adult support
Positive and memorable decision-making benchmark

Examples :

"Ms. Demeanor"
"Mr. Meanor"

Puppets who introduce the temptation and consequences of stealing and shoplifting. There is play on the word 'misdemeanor' but the point is made and the new addition to the children's vocabulary will be memorable.
